So, you’ve just bought yourself a Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series, or it’s sitting pretty in your driveway waiting for that first big adventure. First of all—good choice. Now it’s time to make it touring ready. If you’re planning to tow a caravan around Australia or kit it out for long-haul travel, you’re going to need more than just good intentions.

This guide is all about what you actually need to turn your 300 into a reliable, powerful, and road-legal towing rig—without loading it up with gimmicks you’ll never use.
300 Series Towing Setup Essentials
Lovells GVM & GCM Upgrade – The First Mod You Should Do
A key part of any serious 300 Series towing setup is upgrading the GVM and GCM. We fitted a Lovells Platinum 4205kg GVM upgrade with a 7705kg GCM. This allows the 300 Series to legally carry more payload while towing, which is crucial when you’re loading up a caravan and filling the vehicle with gear and passengers.
What You Get:
GVM increased to 4205kg (from stock 3280kg)
GCM increased to 7705kg
3500kg towing capacity retained
Fully legal and engineered
Whether you’re doing the big lap or just hitting the coast for a few weeks, this upgrade keeps you compliant, safe, and confident on the road.

Clearview Next Gen Towing Mirrors
The factory mirrors on the 300 Series are fine—until you tow something wider than a jet ski. The Clearview Next Gen mirrors give you adjustable extension, factory functions, and way better visibility when towing.

Safari ARMAX Snorkel
Even if you’re not crossing rivers every week, a snorkel helps with airflow, fuel economy, and engine longevity—especially when towing heavy in dusty or hot conditions. We fit the Safari ARMAX for its high flow and factory-quality finish.

Direction Plus Pre-Filter & Catch Can
Towing through remote Australia? You’ll want clean fuel and oil vapour protection. This combo keeps your injectors safe and your engine running cleaner, giving you peace of mind when you’re thousands of kays from help.
GME XRS Connect UHF + Cel-Fi Antenna
Whether you’re part of a convoy or just need comms in the middle of nowhere, a good UHF and signal booster is a non-negotiable. GME’s XRS UHF is crystal-clear, and the Cel-Fi antenna helps you stay connected—even if you only have one bar of reception.
Safety Dave Camera System
You can’t always rely on your mirrors. Safety Dave’s multi-angle camera system helps with reversing, lane changing, and navigating tight camp sites. Essential when your rig is the size of a road train.
