RAM 1500 DT Limited GVM Upgrade – Now Available at BAW

The RAM 1500 DT Limited is the one with the air suspension — the model that rides like a luxury SUV and tows like a truck. The problem is that same air ride system has historically made Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) upgrades a headache. Until now.

The RAM 1500 Limited DT GVM upgrade is a post-registration only package — engineered by BAW to take the Limited to 3795kg legally on Australian roads.

BAW Automotive has developed a post-registration GVM upgrade specifically engineered for the RAM 1500 DT Limited. It takes the factory GVM from 3450kg up to 3795kg — an extra 345kg of legal payload capacity - without compromising the factory air suspension system.

WHO THE RAM LIMITED GVM UPGRADE IS FOR

If you've specced out a Limited DT with a bullbar, a long-range fuel tank, and a full set of passengers, you've probably already done the maths on how quickly the factory payload disappears if you also want to tow a caravan.

This upgrade is for RAM 1500 DT Limited owners are using their trucks properly and want to do it legally. With a post-upgrade payload of 1046kg and a rear axle capacity of 2100kg, there's actual room to work with.

THERE'S A TAX ANGLE WORTH KNOWING ABOUT

If you're a business owner running your RAM 1500 DT Limited as a work vehicle, the GVM upgrade may do more than just increase your legal payload. The ATO applies a car depreciation limit — currently $69,674 — to passenger vehicles with a payload under 1,000kg. Once your payload crosses that threshold, the ATO classifies it as a commercial vehicle, and that cap no longer applies. You may be able to depreciate the vehicle's full cost for tax purposes.

The RAM 1500 DT Limited's post-upgrade payload sits at 1046kg — just enough to clear the line. Talk to your accountant about whether this applies to your situation.

WHAT THE KIT INCLUDES

The upgrade runs upgraded front and rear shocks alongside upgraded rear airbags, a 2-inch lift, and a wheel alignment on completion. Factory rims are retained. Post-registration engineering certification is included in the supplied and installed price — no extra charge, no separate invoice.

Queensland-registered vehicles only. This upgrade does not suit other RAM 1500 DT variants — Limited only.
