BLUETTI Elite 300: A Portable 12V System Worth It?

WHAT'S ACTUALLY IN THE BOX

The Elite 300 packs 3,014Wh of capacity and 2,400W of continuous output (4,800W in Power Lifting mode) into 26.3kg. It's built on lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells rated for 6,000-plus cycles, with eight ports covering AC, USB-A, USB-C, a cigarette lighter socket and a 12V/30A DC output. Paired with the BLUETTI Charger 2, it pulls up to 800W from your alternator and 600W from solar — 1,200W combined — for a full recharge in around 3.6 hours while you drive.

WHAT WE'D NORMALLY RECOMMEND

When we quote a permanent dual battery system, REDARC's QuickFit 30A 2000W Power Panel is usually top of the list. It bundles the Manager30 battery management system, a 2000W pure sine wave inverter and the RedVision display into one pre-wired unit, priced at $5,999. Add a 200Ah lithium battery to power it and you're looking at roughly $7,889 in parts, before sockets, cabling or labour.

We'll be upfront: it's not really apples-for-apples. REDARC is the most popular name in 12V accessories for a reason, and we've been fitting it to LandCruiser builds for close to ten years without a single issue. That kind of proven longevity is worth paying for on a vehicle that's out working every day.

The BLUETTI Elite 300 bundled with the Charger 2 currently sits at $2,899 — a gap of around $5,000 against the REDARC setup, with minimum installation required. We haven't had it out in the field long enough to vouch for its long-term durability the way we can with REDARC. But at that price point and that spec sheet, it's hard to call it anything other than a no-brainer for the right buyer.

WHO IS THE BLUETTI ELITE 300 FOR?

If you're running a fridge, charging camera batteries or powering a swag heater on the odd trip out of Brisbane, the Elite 300 is hard to beat on value and simplicity. It goes wherever you go, works out of the canopy, the tray or a camp chair, and comes with you when you sell the ute.

A 12V power washer running straight off the BLUETTI — this is the kind of job a portable system lets you do without planning around a workshop outlet.

If you're a full-time tourer with a canopy setup running a fridge, water pump, UHF and driving lights day in day out, a permanent dual battery system is still the better call. It's built into the vehicle, charges faster and doesn't eat into your cargo space.
