RAM 2500 GVM UPGRADES BRISBANE
The RAM 2500 is sold in Australia as an NB1 vehicle with a factory GVM of 4,495kg and just 886kg of payload — less than some dual cab utes. A certified ORI GVM upgrade moves it into the NB2 category, taking GVM up to 5,550kg and payload up to 1,914kg.

NB1 VS NB2
WHY THE RAM 2500 NEEDS TO BE IN NB2
The RAM 2500 is sold as an NB1 vehicle - that's the same category as a 79 Series LandCruiser. But it's a full-size American heavy duty truck, and the NB1 classification doesn't reflect what it's built to do.
Once you're in NB2, the rules change - a Light Rigid (LR) license, different registration requirements and . It's worth understanding before you commit.
THE REAL PROBLEM
886KG OF PAYLOAD IS NOT ENOUGH FOR A TRUCK THIS SIZE
The RAM 2500 has a kerb weight of 3,609kg. The factory GVM is 4,495kg. That leaves 886kg of payload - less than what you'd get out of some dual cab utes. For a truck this big, that number is hard to justify.
If you're running a full suit of accessories and a canopy - those accessories alone are heavier than what you'd put on a Ranger or Hilux. At that point you've already burned through most of your factory payload.
An Offroad Industries GVM upgrade moves the 2500 into NB2, gives you nearly a tonne of additional legal payload, and makes the truck perform the way it looks like it should.
