PRE-REGO (SSM)
Taking delivery of a new Prado 250? Get the GVM upgrade sorted before you register it.
Done before the vehicle is first registered. Federally approved under Second Stage Manufacture (SSM). Recognised across all Australian states and territories. Usually allows bigger lifts and tyre sizes.
GCM & TOWING
TOWING WITH YOUR PRADO 250? - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
A GVM upgrade increases how much your Prado 250 can legally carry. It does not automatically increase how much you can tow. Those are two separate limits and both matter.
Here's how it works. The Prado 250 has three key numbers:
GVM — the maximum your vehicle can legally weigh, fully loaded.
GCM — the combined maximum of your vehicle plus whatever you're towing.
BTC — the maximum weight of the trailer itself (3,500kg braked on the Prado 250).

Not every GVM upgrade increases your GCM — but Lovells does. On the Prado 250, a Lovells GVM upgrade takes your GCM from 6,600kg up to 6,800kg, giving you more combined weight to play with when you're towing.
