THE REAL PROBLEM
THE MU-X HAS PAYLOAD PROBLEM
The problem is the factory GVM of 2,800kg is one of the lowest in its class for a vehicle this capable. With a payload of just 615–665kg depending on variant, it doesn't take much to run out of legal weight. Five passengers, accessories, and a van on the tow bar and you've got almost nothing left. Exceeding your GVM voids your insurance — not ideal when you're two hours from the nearest town with the family on board.

The kit replaces front and rear coil springs and shock absorbers with Lovells heavy duty coil springs and Gas Legend twin-tube shock absorbers — engineered for improved stability, control, and comfort under load. Everything is designed and manufactured in Australia, tested to ADR standards, and federally approved under the SSM framework.

Done before the vehicle is first registered. Federally approved under Second Stage Manufacture (SSM). Recognised across all Australian states and territories. The cleanest way to do it — sorted before the vehicle hits the road.
GCM & TOWING
TOWING WITH YOUR ISUZU MU-X?
Most GVM upgrades increase what the vehicle can carry — and stop there. The Lovells MU-X kit also revises the GCM from 5900kg to 6200kg, giving you more combined legal weight when you're towing.
The MU-X tows 3500kg braked from factory and that doesn't change with the upgrade. But the GCM revision means you can run a more loaded MU-X and a heavier trailer at the same time without hitting the combined limit. For a family SUV that regularly tows a camper trailer or a boat, that extra 300kg of combined capacity makes a real difference.
Tow ball download weight — roughly 10% of whatever you're towing — comes directly off your GVM as well. With the upgraded GVM of 3325kg and a revised GCM of 6200kg, the numbers work properly for how MU-X owners actually use their vehicles.
