FACTORY VS UPGRADED
WHAT A CHEVY 1500 GVM UPGRADE CAN DELIVER
Here's what a certified ORI GVM upgrade delivers for your Chevrolet Silverado 1500 — installed by BAW, engineered by Offroad Industries.
RATING | FROM FACTORY | WITH GVM UPGRADE |
|---|---|---|
GVM | 3300kg | Up to 4250kg |
Payload | ~757kg | Up to 1672kg |
GCM | 7160kg | Up to 8750kg (LTZ) / 8450kg (ZR2) |
BTC | 4500kg | 4500kg (unchanged) |
THE REAL PROBLEM
WHY UPGRADE YOUR SILVERADO'S GVM?
The Silverado 1500 is the most popular American truck in Australia for good reason - it does everything! But the factory GVM of 3300kg doesn't leave much room once you've got passengers on board and a van on the back. For a truck this size, that's a surprisingly tight number.
Exceeding your GVM can void your insurance and put unnecessary strain on the vehicle. A certified ORI GVM upgrade pushes your legal payload past the one-tonne mark and keeps your Silverado compliant on Queensland roads.

GVM UPGRADE OPTIONS
SILVERADO 1500 GVM KITS - WHICH STAGE SUITS
YOUR BUILD?
ORI offer five stages for the Silverado 1500 across LTZ, Trailboss, and ZR2 variants — each delivering a different combination of GVM rating, Fox shock package, and payload increase. Stage 2 is ZR2-specific, retaining the factory Multimatic suspension. Stages 4 and 5 deliver the maximum 4250kg GVM with over a one tonne payload.
DISCLAIMER
ORI GVM upgrades are available for GMSV-delivered Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ, Trailboss, and ZR2 models only.
All GVM upgrade figures and payload increases shown are typical examples only. Final approved upgrade levels may vary depending on your Silverado's model year, variant, and fitted accessories.
Every vehicle is inspected and certified individually to ensure compliance with Australian Design Rules and relevant state regulations.

GVM UPGRADE WITH MULTIMATIC
CHEVROLET SILVERADO ZR2 GVM UPGRADE
The ZR2's factory Multimatic suspension is what makes it one of the most capable off-road trucks money can buy — and Stage 2 keeps it that way.
Rather than replacing the factory setup, the Stage 2 kit retains the ZR2's OE Multimatic suspension and adds BDS control arms and an ORI rear leaf spring pack to achieve a certified 3650kg GVM.
ZR2 owners can also run Stages 3, 4, or 5 if they want a higher GVM rating.

GCM & TOWING
TOWING WITH YOUR FORD F-150? DON'T FORGET GCM
Upgrading your vehicle’s GVM can increase how much weight you can legally carry — but when you’re towing, your GCM (Gross Combination Mass) still sets the overall limit.
This tool shows how the weight of your vehicle and trailer combine to reach your GCM limit.
Adjust the sliders to see how close you are to the maximum combined weight when towing.
The stage you choose affects GCM differently depending on your variant. The LTZ reaches 8,750kg GCM on Stages 4 and 5 — the most room available. The ZR2 runs a slightly lower GCM across all stages due to its different factory setup.
Load the truck up with a full touring rig and hook up a heavy trailer, and GCM gets eaten through faster than most owners expect. This is why BAW does a full assessment before recommending a stage.
