THE REAL PROBLEM

WHY DMAX OWNERS RUN OUT OF PAYLOAD

The D-Max is built for work — and that's exactly the problem. Tools, gear, a canopy on the back, and a trailer on the tow bar adds up quicker than most people realise. The factory GVM of 3200kg sounds like plenty until you actually weigh the thing.

Every Lovells D-Max GVM upgrade includes a GCM upgrade as standard — so you're not just increasing what the vehicle can carry, you're increasing the combined limit when you're towing as well. Get it sorted properly and stay legal on both counts.

UPGRADE OPTIONS

ISUZU D-MAX GCM & GVM UPGRADE OPTIONS

Whether you’re towing a van, loading up for work, or setting up for long-distance touring, Lovells has a certified upgrade to keep your D-MAX legal, level, and ready for anything.

You can also choose between standard twin-tube shocks or adjustable remote-reservoir shocks to match your driving style and setup needs.

Lovells’ 3695kg GVM Upgrade is paired with an optional 6900kg GCM Revision - designed for serious towing. With the OE GCM at 5950kg, the Lovells kit increases this to 6200kg with the standard package or 6900kg with the cooling upgrade — all engineered for Australian conditions and fully certified for road use.

PRE-REGO VS POST-REGO

WHEN ARE YOU DOING YOUR GVM UPGRADE

Timing changes how the upgrade gets certified. Here's what it means for your D-MAX.

PRE-REGO (SSM)

Buying a D-Max new? Sort the GVM upgrade before you pick it up.

Done before the vehicle is first registered. Federally approved under Second Stage Manufacture (SSM). Recognised across all Australian states and territories. Usually allows bigger lifts and tyre sizes.

GCM & TOWING

TOWING AFTER A GVM UPGRADE - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Upgrading your D-Max's GVM to 3695kg increases how much weight you can legally carry — but when you're towing, your GCM (Gross Combination Mass) sets the ceiling on everything combined.

GCM is the total legal mass of your loaded vehicle and your loaded trailer added together. It's the number that matters most if you're running a heavy caravan, a loaded horse float with a fully kitted D-Max on the other end of the hitch.

This tool shows how the weight of your vehicle and trailer combine to reach your GCM limit.

Adjust the sliders to see how close you are to the maximum combined weight when towing.

The standard Lovells D-Max GVM kit revises the GCM from the factory 5950kg up to 6200kg. But if you're serious about towing, the cooling kit steps things up further - pushing the GCM to 6900kg. That's an extra 950kg of combined legal capacity over stock.

The 6900kg GCM is only available with the cooling upgrade kit, and that's not a coincidence. Sustained heavy towing generates serious heat — in the engine, transmission, and cooling system. The Lovells Radiator that comes with these kits is engineered to manage that thermal load, protecting the drivetrain under the conditions where a high GCM actually gets used.

If you're doing long highway runs with a heavy van in Queensland heat, this isn't a nice-to-have.
